26-02-2025: Farré participates in the debate  "Gender Equality - beyond wages" at the Palau Macaya of the "La Caixa Foundation".

On February 26, the Palau Macaya of the ”la Caixa” Foundation hosted a roundtable discussion on gender inequality in the labor market, featuring Lídia Farré (IAE-CSIC, BSE), Libertad González (UPF, BSE), and Judit Vall (UB, IEB), moderated by journalist Antoni Bassas.

The discussion highlighted persistent gender gaps in wages, employment rates, part-time work, and leadership positions. Women remain concentrated in lower-paid sectors, representing 73% of workers in education, healthcare, and social services. Leadership disparities were also emphasized, with only 31% of board positions and 12% of CEO roles held by women.

Speakers stressed the economic costs of occupational segregation, referencing research that links greater gender equality to economic growth. The debate underscored the need for policy measures, such as paternity leave and universal early childhood education, to promote better work-life balance and equitable career opportunities.
