Directions

From Airport "El Prat" to Barcelona

By public transport using Aerobus (A1, A2). Aerobus serves both terminals 1 and 2 (frequency every 5 min.) and takes you directly to Plaça de Catalunya (the city center) in 35 minutes. Here you can find the timetable and fares (approx. 5.90€).

By public transport using RENFE train. The national train operator Renfe serves terminal 2 only (frequency every 30 min.) and takes you to the city center in 25-35 minutes. If your final destination is close to Passeig de Gràcia / Aragó you can take train (line R2) from RENFE station Aeroport to RENFE station Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia. If your final destination is close Plaça de Catalunya take the same train (line R2) from RENFE station Aeroport but get off one stop earlier at RENFE station Barcelona-Sants and wait on the same platform to take a train (line R1, R3 or R4) to RENFE station Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya. Here you can find the timetables and fares (approx. 4.10€, 4 zones Rodalies).

By taxi. Official black-yellow taxis are queued up outside the terminals. Estimated travel time 25 minutes depending on traffic. Costs: approximately 35-40€.

From Barcelona to the IAE

By public transport using Ferrocarrils FGC metro (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya). Go to the nearest Ferrocarrils FGC station (Plaça de Catalunya, Provença or Gràcia) to get on line S2 (direction Sabadell) or line S55 (direction Universitat Autònoma) and (in both cases) get off at Ferrocarrils FGC station the Universitat Autònoma. More information on time tables is available here. Frequency: every <15 min. Travel time: 30-35 min. Costs: 3€ for a single ticket (2 zones TMB) and 19.60€ for 10 tickets (T10, 2 zones TMB). From Ferrocarrils FGC station Universitat Autònoma it is a 4 minutes walk to the IAE: follow the red path on this map.

By public transport using RENFE train. Usually this is not the most convenient option to get to the IAE from the city center. But in at least two cases it is definitely worth considering. Case 1: you are close to RENFE station Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya at 7:57, 8:13 or 8:43, in which case you can take a direct train to Cerdanyola-Universitat - see purple services on page 1 of this schedule of line R4. Case 2: you are close to RENFE station Barcelona-Arc de Triomf, Barcelona-La Sagrera-Meridiana, or Barcelona-Sant Andreu-Arenal, in which case you can take a train (line R3 or R4) to RENFE station Torre del Baró, where you get off and switch to line R7 to RENFE station Cerdanyola-Universitat. Here you can find the timetables and fares. Frequency: every <30 min. Travel time: 15-35 min. Costs: 3.40€ for a single ticket (3 zones Rodalies) and 21.20€ for 10 tickets (bonotren, 3 zones Rodalies). From RENFE station Cerdanyola-Universitat it takes a 5 minutes (free) shuttle bus ride to get you near the IAE. Either take blue line L1 or orange line L4 / purple line L5 (whichever leaves first). In either case get off at the 2nd stop. The 2nd stop of the blue line L1 is "Lletres I Psicologia" and the 2nd stop of the orange line L4 / purple line L5 is "Eix Central". There is detailed information on the shuttle bus: description, time tables, and map. Finally, it takes 5 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the IAE: follow the blue path (from "Lletres I Psicologia") or the orange path ("Eix Central") on this map.

By taxi. Estimated travel time 25-30 minutes depending on traffic. Costs: approximately 35-40€. Since taxi drivers are usually not familiar with the campus, please ask your driver to get you to the post office at the Bellaterra Campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona ("Oficina de Correus, Av. de l'Eix Central, Campus UAB, Bellaterra"). From the post office it just takes a 2-3 minutes walk to the IAE: follow the black path on this map. In case of problems: the telephone number of the IAE is +34 935 806 612.
