Directions

From Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) to Barcelona

By public transport using Aerobus (A1, A2): Aerobus serves both terminals 1 and 2 (frequency every 5 min and 10 min, respectively) and takes you directly to Plaça de Catalunya (the city center) in 35 minutes. Here you can find the timetable and fares (approx. 6.75€). You can pay online or at the bus stops (cash only).

By public transport using RENFE trains (RENFE): The national train operator Renfe serves terminal 2 only (frequency every 30 minutes) and takes you to the city center in 25-35 minutes. If your final destination is close to Passeig de Gràcia / Aragó you can take the train (line R2) from Aeroport to Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia. If your final destination is close to Plaça de Catalunya take the same train (line R2) from Aeroport but get off one stop earlier at Barcelona-Sants and then take a train (line R1, R3, or R4) to Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya. Here you can find the timetables and fares (4.60€, single ticket 4 zones Rodalies or only 1.13€ by buying a T-Casual 1 zone TMB for 10 journeys to/in Barcelona, which costs 11.35€ -- exceptionally and until December 31, 2023 travelling with Rodalies is basically costless: see conditions).

By taxi: Official black-yellow taxis are queued up outside the terminals. Estimated travel time: 25 minutes (depending on traffic). Costs: approximately 40-45€.

From Barcelona to the IAE

By public transport using Ferrocarrils FGC metro (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya): Go to the nearest FGC station (Plaça de Catalunya, Provença, or Gràcia) to get on line S2 (direction Sabadell) and get off at FGC station Universitat Autònoma. More information on time tables is available here. Frequency: every <5-10 min. Travel time: 35-40 min. Costs: 2.40€ for a single ticket (1 zone FGC) and 11.35€ for 10 tickets (T-casual 1 zone TMB). From FGC station Universitat Autònoma it is a 5 minutes walk to the IAE: follow the red path on this map.

By public transport using RENFE trains (RENFE): Usually this is not the most convenient option to get to the IAE from the city center. But in at least two cases it is definitely worth considering. Case 1: you are close to station Barcelona-Plaça de Catalunya at 7:42, 8:12, 8:42, or 9:12, in which case you can take a direct train to Cerdanyola-Universitat - see the four special services on page 1 of the schedule of line R4. Case 2: you are close to station Barcelona-Arc de Triomf, Barcelona-La Sagrera-Meridiana, or Barcelona-Sant Andreu-Arenal, in which case you can take a train (line R3 or R4) to station Torre del Baró, where you get off and switch to line R7 to station Cerdanyola-Universitat. Here you can find the timetables and fares. Frequency: every <30 min. Travel time: 15-35 min. Costs: 2.40€ for a single ticket (1 zone Rodalies) and 11.35€ for 10 tickets (T-Casual, 1 zone TMB). Note that exceptionally and until December 31, 2023 travelling with Rodalies is basically costless: see conditions. From station Cerdanyola-Universitat it takes a 5 minutes (free) shuttle bus ride to get you near the IAE. Take blue line L1 and get off at the 2nd stop ("Lletres i Psicologia"). There is detailed information at the train station and this map (the Cerdanyola Universitat train station is in the bottom-right corner). Finally, it takes 4 minutes to walk from the bus stop to the IAE: follow the blue path (from "Lletres i Psicologia") on this map.

By taxi: Estimated travel time 30 minutes depending on traffic. Costs: approximately 40€. Since taxi drivers are usually not familiar with the campus, please ask your driver to get you to the post office at the Bellaterra Campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona ("Oficina de Correus, Av. de l'Eix Central, Campus UAB, Bellaterra"). From the post office it just takes a 2 minutes walk to the IAE: follow the black path on this map. In case of problems: the telephone number of the IAE is +34 935 806 612.
