International Doctorate in Economic Analysis (IDEA)

IDEA is a graduate program offered by the Department of Economics at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with our collaboration. It includes a Master's degree in Economics as well as a PhD degree. It is located 30 minutes away from downtown Barcelona.

The Master's Program provides students with a solid training in Economics that emphasizes rigorous analytical thinking and advanced quantitative methods. Master’s students acquire tools that make them competitive in the job market and typically take on careers in the private sector and governmental and non-governmental institutions. The Master's program also provides students with the tools necessary to successfully earn a doctoral degree. Some of the graduates continue their studies, pursuing a PhD either with us or abroad. The Master's Program has a two-year structure (120 ECTS), conforming to the Bologna Declaration directives.

The PhD program is organized jointly with the BSE. The students wishing to enroll in the PhD should first complete the two-year Master's program. The IDEA program offers an active interaction between students and faculty and a stimulating research environment with regular seminars and internal workshops. This program is part of an international network of PhD programs (ENTER) which includes the University College London, CentER of Tilburg University, University of Social Sciences Toulouse, University of Mannheim and the Free University of Brussels. PhD graduates take on careers in academia, the private sector and governmental and non-governmental institutions.
